Imagine going to bed hungry, sick, and without a safe place to sleep. This is the reality for many young children in Uganda. Buyebe Community Care Initiative Africa works daily to provide meals and care for orphans and widows in the Bugweri District to provide them a chance at a better life. We are blessed to be able to help those less fortunate than ourselves and welcome others to join in this fight. Your kindness can change lives.

Meet Our Founder

My name is Denis Waiswa

I am a 24 year old Ugandan currently living in the Bukweri district.  I was only 5 years old when I lost my Dad. Without him there to support us, my mother departed shortly after leaving me with my two younger sisters (3yo and 1yo).  They would follow me around as we walked through this world starving, lacking food, with no one to stand with us.  I did my best to take care of them. We ate leftovers that people threw in the rubbish pit in order to survive. We never went to school. Without shelter, we slept under trees and on the street.  At 9 years old, I begged for people to take care of my sisters, but they refused, only able to give us a little money for food. With no food, no shelter, no education, and no medication, I had lost hope. At age 12, I heard a preacher in the street tell me I could become rich if I declared myself so. And so I did. I became rich in purpose.

I started my efforts helping orphans and widows in 2018 because I understood first-hand the pain and challenges of being an orphan, homeless, and hungry. I found children abandoned on the streets and in homes and brought them with me. This has grown into the Buyebe Community Care Initiative where we serve 200+ orphans and 20 widows daily.

I pray you join me on this journey to save lives.
